Cult Favorite Japanese Grill Closing, Moving, Expanding, Re-Opening

By Oct 29, 2019 Dining

Cult favorite Nakama, a Japanese yakiniku grill that only opened this year but has developed a strong following for its dry-aged meat, is closing, moving, expanding and re-opening, all in the next two months. Landlord licensing issues mean the original 24-seat location will close in about two weeks. But they are already on the case. Designer about town (he recently did this) Max Trullas is at work on the next location, across the street from the Capella Hotel on Jianguo Lu. It will be called High Yaki, and prices will come down to about 500rmb per person as the number of seats doubles to more than 50. Expect it to open before the end of the year.
