New Gyms and What They’re Offering…
They even manage to throw in an unprovoked dig at your girlfriend...cold.
TriFit is in soft open as of today, and boast “the newest and hippest workouts” from trainers from the US, Canada, South Africa, Spain. They’re still working out the details, but are rejecting long term contracts and instead will put in place a “FitCoin” system where you sweat to earn points to then redeem for workouts. If you check it out now (like within the next two weeks) you'll be given 5 FitCoins, which will get you either one personal training session (5 coins) or 1-2 group classes which go for 1-3 FitCoins.
Classes they currently offer: Body Circuit, Spartan HIIT, Fit Test, Boot Camp, Shape Zone, Barre, AcroYoga, Core Flow, and Groud Force & Strength, which they describe as a 'beginner animal movement inspired class' which leaves me with a lot of questions.
They’ve also got this thing, “The Sweaty Brunch” which is a free outdoor workout followed by a “discounted” brunch (100rmb for a Pure & Whole buffet). The next brunch is full, but if you’re really interested you can follow scan the QR code in the flyer to get on the waitlist, and hear the dets first on the next brunch which’ll bring another free workout.

News From the Ground
Hold up…did GuavaPass just get more expensive? Apparently it did. If you’ve canceled your membership and want to renew, the monthly price has been steepened. The 3-month unlimited was 990rmb a month, but is now 1,288rmb a month for 3 months, and 1,388rmb per month. Members who haven’t canceled, and want to remain slaves to GuavaPass forever will be unaffected; but if you ever cancel the new rate applies. Also the new rate applies to new users. (We tested GauvaPass a while back, read that here).
Now Gauva’s just about the same price as Move Shanghai’s one month fee (1,499rmb) where there are less restrictions. But both are getting to be $$$.
Is it time for a revolution? Grab your pitchforks!
Alternatively there's Park Box, these little capsules round town you can work out in 24 hours a day for 10rmb an hour. You can even find a buddy through their app to work out with, if you’re not afraid of getting murdered. We'll be checking these out, but probably not inviting anyone to join...I'm acutely aware of my mortality.
