Beergrdn's Buy One Get One Tuesday Pizzas

Deals Tested: We kick the tires on various food, drink or miscellaneous deals so you don't have to.
Beergrdn is that gastropub that replaced Downstairs on the ground floor of Urbn Hotel in Jing'an. They have a large outdoor terrace, sheltered by a glass tent, where businessmen and women in their 20s are joined, under lanterns, with the moths and other fluttering insects of Jing'an. Apparently, they've also got some arcade machines and board games, though it seems you've got to ask for those.

The Deal: On Tuesdays, you can get buy-one-get-one on their pizzas under the lanterns from 5pm to 9pm. Or you can sit inside, but where's the fun in that?

All their pizzas are thin crust, starting at 85rmb for the decent Margherita. It's decent. The most expensive option on the menu, however, the Prosciutto, skimps on the cheese and doesn't justify its 130rmb price tag. A couple pieces were just bread and a piece of prosciutto. But other offerings were good, like the Greek Sausage and Mushrooms, which came with plentiful toppings. As usual in such deals, you pay for the more expensive pizza and the less expensive one is free.

Beers on tap include Asahi, Vedett Ex White, Reberg Wheat, Brooklyn Lager, and two of their own homemade brews, the Beergrdn Shanghai IPA and their Chocolate Stout. Their IPA lacks the hoppy bitterness that you'd expect, but some might prefer that. Their happy hour runs from 5pm to 8pm, with a 5rmb discount on their 330ml glasses, but you'll still get more bang for your buck by getting a pint.

If you're craving some slices, this probably isn't the first or even third spot you'd come to. But if you want good value on some decent thin crust pizza, Beergrdn's Tuesday deal does the job.
