Just some events that don't happen in the club: markets, screenings, charity events, and more. Check it out.

Dec 10: Green Drinks: Billions in Change @ New Haworth Space

Green Initiatives has their Green Drinks December Film Screening Thursday night with Billions in Change, a doc that follows 5 Hour Energy Drink billionaire dude Manoj Bhargava as he works to solve the problems of energy, health, and water in the world. Nice snacks and beer and wine here. Solid event series. Cover is 50rmb. Runs from 7-9pm.

Dec 10-13: French Theatre Festival @ Xinguang Cinema

Some French-language theater productions on for the next four days at Xinguang Cinema. Performances include Les Miserables, Sherlock Barman, and some one man shows. There's English and Chinese subtitles. Starts at 7pm on Thursday and Friday, and 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Shows are 180rmb.

Dec 11: Pop Up Night Market @ Anken Life

On Friday, Anken Life hosts their final monthly "pop up" night market. Expect the usual workout classes, live music, burgers, vegan options, baked goods, and desserts, plus some mulled wine, holiday cocktails, and a boxing demonstration from Aboro Academy. Goes from 6-10pm. No cover.

Dec 11: Feuerzangenbowle Party @ German Centre

So Feuerzangenbowle is this traditional German drink made of rum-soaked sugarloaf and mulled wine. They'll have that at the German Center, along with a German buffet. If you sign up for the buffet, which is 100rmb, they gift you a 40rmb drink voucher that you can use on the Feuerzangenbowle. Starts at 6.30rmb. Could be good if you want a cheaper German cuisine option for this weekend, or if you work out in the high-technology park -- shout out to Zhangjiang Gaoke.

Dec 12: Shanghai Young Bakers: Yule Log Class

Those Shanghai Young Bakers are at it again, making Yule log on Saturday. Looks like a delicious snow-covered piece of wood, but it's actually just a sponge cake with bark-like icing and powdered sugar on the surface, with chocolate butter ice cream. Price is 500rmb per person for the class. All proceeds goes toward funding bakery training programs for disadvantaged youth. Goes from 10am-3pm.

Dec 13: Christmas Affair @ Elefante

You want more Christmas markets right? We can say that we stopped by the market at Shanghai Centre, and that was a sad affair. This one looks good though.

Classic Donghu Lu Mediterranean / Spanish restaurant Elefante has their market on the patio this Sunday afternoon. Vendors are selling mulled wine, carajillo, fashion accessories, gifts, and other items. Goes from 11am-6pm on December 13. No cover. Should be good.

Dec 13: Pet Adoption Day @ Kulou

Finally, a pet adoption day from Kulou and Will's Pets, an online pet product retailer that runs charity events to raise awareness and find homes for homeless pets. Kulou attendance is random and unpredictable, but hopefully they'll get a good turnout for this one. Goes from 10am-7pm. No cover.
