Five runs coming up in the next couple of months, some more intense than others...

First up, the biggest one – the Shanghai International Marathon. It goes down on Sunday November 2, and includes a full marathon, half-marathon, 10k run and mini 5k race. All races start at Chen Yi Square on the North end of the Bund, and the first two finish at Shanghai Stadium, the 10k ends at Fuxing Park, and the mini race ends at Jing’an Sculpture park. Unfortunately registration for this is already closed, but you can still watch.

Next up, the Sky Marathon. Competitors race to the 100th floor of the Shanghai World Financial Center, a.k.a. tha' bottle opener. You can run or walk but either way it’s 2,726 steps of fun/pain. Inspired by the Chongyang festival where people climb mountains then pray for their health, here people climb 100 flights of stairs then collapse. Registration is 250rmb to run, 200rmb to walk. This includes a T-shirt, drink, towel, insurance, and a medal. EVERYONE IS A WINNER. The event happens on October 12 and you can register through their WeChat account (ID: SWFC100) until September 25.
