There a new hotel on the Bund called "Eight". It's where Captain's Hostel used to be. It's not open yet, but they've started putting on a few events, and for the rest of this month they're screening Wong Kar-Wai films every Wednesday evening.

Tonight they start with In the Mood for Love, one of the greatest Chinese films of this century. Staring Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, it is a gentle portrait of unspoken attraction and desire set in 1960s Hong Kong. You've probably seen it. If not, what the fuck. Really. Go and see this thing. It's free.

Next week, it's My Blueberry Nights and January 22 it's Chungking Express. Doors open at 7pm and the film starts at 8pm. Happy hour is a go for the duration. Find the hotel here.
