A Quick Bite: Nat Alexander's Yang Jing Bang Goes Spanish This Thursday
By Sep 6, 2016 Dining
Here's a nice little one-off dinner event to ferry you delightfully into your weekend: ex-Fulton Place impresario Nat Alexander is back on your food scene with his "Yang Jing Bang" pop-up night this Thursday night at Tomatito with a menu of Spanish tapas.

A bit of background and the full menu after the jump.

Says event host Alexander: "We'll be presenting a menu of six sexy tapas, in our Pidgin Chinese way, alongside their regular menu. Reservations are available for this one via Tomatito."

Oh yeah? What's on the menu? Hit me:

-“Entraña al grill” - Grilled skirt steak, ma-la dust, spring onion chimmichuri;

-“La gamba borracha!” - Drunken shrimp! summer vegetables;

-“Terrina de pulpo” - Octopus terrine, Sichuan dressing (pictured, magnifico!);

-“Almejas al vino de arroz” - Clams, black beans, bacon, yellow wine;

-“Patatas con chorizo casero” - Fried potato wedges, tossed with our Sichuan recipe homemade chorizo (picured, fantastico!);

-“Mini calamares fritos” - Crispy fried baby squid, spice mix, chilli vinegar.

Very nice! Dishes from 45rmb to 128rmb. Dinner from 6pm. Reservations highly recommended. The last few of these have been busy.

For more on Shanghai's most "proudly inauthentic" Chinese food night, here's a longer interview with Alexander SmSh did with the man in anticipation of their launch earlier this year at Egg. Look for their next event on September 29 with Scott and Kim Melvin from Commune Social and Christopher Pitts from Table No 1.
