Friday: Idle Beats Opening A Studio On Pingwu Lu In Uptown Records / Basement6 Lair

Jul 16, 2015 | 11:35 Thu
More good vibes coming to the corner of Pingwu Lu / Xingfu Lu, in that basement that Uptown Records and art collective Basement6 call home. Shanghai's premier screen-printers / poster and album cover designers Idle Beats are opening a print shop for the public down there, with a free party Friday night from 6–11pm, with live screen printing, drink & draw, drinks, and music by Mau Mau.

For years, they've been drawing and printing some of the raddest gig posters in the city world. Some shit that we'll look back at when we're 80 and playing Mario Kart in the nursing home and say "I was at that night". You probably have one of their Sub-Culture posters on your wall. Here's a few of many favorites...

About the new shop, they say, "This space will focus on local community interested in making their own t-shirts, tote bags, and other screen printable items under the supervision of the IdleBeats team. Open daily simply bring down your design and select from the t-shirts in stock or bring your own". Nice. Screen printing is magical, and way easier than one might think.

So yeah, opening party Friday night then screen-printing every day. Looking good for Changning Qu.
