In the highest profile closing so far this year, lux Cantonese restaurant Hakkasan announced that it is has closed after six years as one of the Bund's best known restaurants. We called and confirmed that the closing was permanent. Part of an international chain that started in London and has grown to include locations in Singapore, Jakarta, New York, Miami, Mumbai and the UAE, it opened in 2014 and has been pretty much the definition of Bundside fine-dining since day one (and a go-to for anyone with deep pockets looking to impress business partners and out-of-towners). In a press release, they reference the economic impact of COVID-19 as a key reason behind the closure. See the full statement after the jump.
