Vargas Watch 2011: Cafe con Leche

By Justin Fischer, Feb 21st, 2011 | In Dining

Just weeks after getting a six-month reprieve for Azul, Eduardo Vargas has announced that he's opening another concept. The name is Cafe con Leche, a Latin-style cafe and bar serving "pastries, empanadas, rustic tarts and Latin comfort food... together with over-sized café con leche (caffè latte), exotic Latino batidos, homemade ice creams using tropical fruits" as well as Latino cocktails. The place is slated to open sometime this summer and the location is as yet undisclosed. In the meantime, if you want a sneak preview of what's in store, you can just head to Azul. Vargas will be using the flagship venue as a test site for menu items over the next few months.

Azul is still open for 5-6 more months. We changed the menu, painted the walls, change the music and we made it a little bit the feeling of the new concept "cafe con leche" will be. A peruvian bistro with great sandwiches and unexpensive food. We still having our famous brunches on weekends but with fresh juices, tropical fruit smoothies and fresh home made tarts for desserts.
See you there..eduardo
